Family of Dr. Richard McCullough

Dr. Richard McCullough began serving as President of Saddleback College on July 1, 2004. Most of his professional career has been spent at Saddleback College where he started as a professor in the Department of Biological Sciences in 1971. In Dr. McCullough’s 34 years at the college he has served in many capacities including as Interim President, Interim Vice President of Instruction, and Dean of the Division of Mathematics, Science & Engineering.
Dr. McCullough was instrumental in building Saddleback College’s solar observatory. He also designed the electron microscopy laboratory at Saddleback College and consulted in electron microscopy for the University of California, Irvine and San Diego State University. He earned his B.S. in Biological Sciences at Loyola University, his M.S. in Cellular Biology from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana and a Ph.D. in Psychophysiology at U.S. International University in San Diego.
His wife, Diana, is a counselor at Irvine Valley College. He has a son Sean, a daughter Sheri Norwood, Two step-daughters Melissa and McKenna, and two grandchildren. Richard enjoyed reading, gardening and had an antique microscope collection along with a collection of scientific equipment from the Civil War.
