Jerilyn Chuman

The Jerilyn Chuman Endowed Scholarship was created by colleagues and friends upon her retirement in 2015. This scholarship recognizes her 35 years of service to Saddleback College, initially as a Counselor, followed by 25 years as Dean of Counseling Services, the longest tenure as a Dean, to date, in the history of the college. The endowment status was reached in its second year through many individual contributions from among retired, current long-term, and new counselors, as well as friends…many of which qualified for the Foundations Matching Campaign, funded by the Associated Student Government. This “team effort’ is representative of Jerilyn’s leadership style. The Award will be granted annually to a single-parent whose career goal is in the field of counseling or counseling psychology: a perpetual tribute to Jerilyn’s own dedicated career of helping others amid one’s own life challenges.
